Lets take a look at the Four Sacred levels of being: Body, Mind, Soul, and Spirit.
Imagine for a moment that spirit is like electricity. Soul(conscious awareness) is like a wall socket, dividing positive and negative into seperate currents. Imagine the body as an appliance that plugs into the socket. And the mind as the output of energy.
If you plug in a lamp, you get light. If you plug in a stove, you get heat. If you plug in a fan, you get wind. If you plug in a stereo, you get sound.
This is the universe. You plug one thing in, you get rocks and trees. Plug in another, you get cats and dogs. Plug in another, and you get human beings and dandilions.
The universe is holographic and fractal. That means Human begins,(you and I) Are made of the sacred four elements of being. Everything that exists is made of these four levels. This is the unifying principle of the universe.
If you turn off the stereo, does the electricity still exist?
If you unplug the lamp, does the outlet still exist?
Long read coming soon. Like subscribe and stay plugged into the universe.😘😘😍😍😋😋😋😇😇😇😄😄😄😄😄😄
I believe we are all born with a body and a soul, but not a mind/personality/ego. Our minds are an emergent property of consciousness interfacing with the external world. The mind is a positive/negative feedback loop, that develops as an adaptive strategy. As the demands of life exceed the conscious awareness’s ability to mirror an internalized model, the internal dissonance forces a partitioning of awareness. It is at this time the one unified consciousness is divided into two seperate parts; the conscious mind and the unconscious mind. The conscious aspect of our mind is state driven (immediate and temporary) and the unconscious mind is trait driven (developing long term cognitive systems to manage the self/environment boundaries.)
The psyche is not a brain/mind interface but a soul/body interface. In the western model of human nature, (psychological conflicts) are viewed and treated as a brain/personality problem. This is why we have become as individuals so unsuccessful at healing ourselves and each other. The trauma begins and ends with the soul, an entity in each one of us, just as real as our physical body and even more real than our personality.
This is the missing connection in our modern world, we have lost the sacred in everyday life. In the rush and waves of technology, social media and advertising the sacred aspects of human nature became obscured, and distorted. This has left a collective emptiness felt around the world. The answers to all of our current problems can only be found by reintegrating the sacred back, into both our personal, but also social lives. It is my goal to be a part of this revival, and to remind you that you can choose to do the same.
Ram Dass before he was Ram Dass, describing his ego death experience under LSD.
It doesn’t just take a village to raise a child, it takes a village to organize, maintain, heal and grow a village.
The purpose and intention behind A Citizen’s Guide to Healing the Earth.
I with my heart of hearts believe the above statements to be true. In the words of Marshall McCluhan “we live in a global village”. I promise this is the last time I will say village. 🙂
I have gone through many stages in my life, from not caring about the problem, to being a part of the problem myself, to opening my heart to empathy and becoming overwhelmed by the problem, to becoming an agoraphobic hermit for six year, hiding from the problem out there, just to realize that the biggest battle was the one-on-one with my ego that would come to take over my “safe place”. We arrive to the current era where I am coming out of the hermit hut, to reconnect with the magic of the universe.
I created this blog for many reason. One to give these Ideas a home other than my head, and the occasional family dinner rant. To free up so ” mental bandwidth” I made this place.
What is the problem that plagued me so much? It was western culture’s (anglo-saxon) loss of the sacred elements of the universe. The tradition of science and reason (matter), came with it a cynicism towards anything existential (energy). Because matter tends to be predictable, it is quantifiable and thus objectively controllable. Energy on the other hand is unpredictable, unmeasurable by the techniques and equiptment used to measure material changes. Because of this, energy is subjectively controllable, which is the inversion of the transformation process.
We in the west have, since the 1500’s, slowly taken all the sacred energetic relationships away from our activities of daily living. This loss of meaning and value in everything has created a collective numbness that I believe people are ready to face and reawaken this dormant aspect of their nature.
I would like this place to be a symbolic campfire. I welcome any comments, ideas critiques (ideas and conversation have always been my drug-of-choice). I believe we are all expressions of human nature, the complete package of the species resides in each individual. Our souls are all bound by the psychic archetypes that we are, by matter of incarnation, forced to play out, often to both our deepest joys and deepest sorrows.
We have as a society (I am Canadian) relied institutions to take care of us. Not just by building roads and hospitals, or passing laws and protecting against crime. We have relied on government, business, science and medicine experts, and forced social programs; to define, guide, manage and transform human nature. We see ourselves as consumers instead of citizens. We need to start taking a more active role in being a tribe member. We all have a role to play, in our friends and families, neighbourhoods, and in the collective consciousness of humanity.
This website is a call to organize a grassroots empathy and compassion movement, and I invite you to be a part of it, in this space and in your own private life.
Your Authentic Self; is the best gift you can give this year.
(Embedded Videos may take 10-15 seconds to load and appear)
Welcome to friends and family friday. Think of this as your weekly guide to healing at home. Life is complicated and so are we. So why do we expect we ourselves, to know how to keep it together?
Keeping it together; is not just something we do, it is a set of skills that we have to learn and develop. So with that in mind, lets all take a minute to cut both, ourselves, and everybody, everywhere, in all times and places, a lot…..and I mean a lot of slack.
Okay, enough of the slack cutting for now. There is a lot more forgiveness to come. But for now, lets focus on how we can create real change in ourselves this Christmas.
In my article, “We Have to Lose our Mind to Find our Soul”, I mention that we need to bring the sacred elements back into our lives. I aso put forward the idea, that only in the letting go of the old Self, can we make way for the new Self.
In my blog post “It Takes a Village”, I put forward the idea that our reliance of institutions, and media, to manage our inner and outer lives, has resulted in a lost connection with our own human nature. This effect has extended to the family unit as well. We as a culture, and as individual people, don’t know how to be a family or friend anymore. We have lost our sense of community, integrity, loyality, love, and honesty.
We have turned “people” into a commodity we can trade, own, and sell. The damage of this can be most obviously felt and seen in the family home.
There is a saying ” tend to the part of the garden you can touch”. Well the smallest social problem we can fix is our family. We need to make that an important goal and honoured space in our life.
The video “Honest Liars” (below), is a guide to confronting the ways that we decieve ourselves and others about our true feelings. It also describes how this destroys both us and the people we love. It is a great video to kick start self reflection. The first step to self transformation, is the confrontation with illusion.
When we live life wearing a social mask, our lives become dull and lose the sense of meaning. We get less out of and put less into our relationships. When we do this long enough, we literally forget who the authentic version of ourself is. This is perfect to kick start forgiveness, honesty and the aliveness of facing yourself.
The last video is a long listen at 1 hr 27 minutes. It is a conversation about the nonphysical energy field surrounding fthe family unit. They discuss how missing our unacknowledged family members/dynamics cause disruption, even generational. Its a soul/science explaination of family history. Speakers: Rupert Sheldrake, Ralph Abraham, & Terence McKenna.
Forgiveness is the key, we must forgive ourselves for making mistakes in the complicated game called life. We also have to forgive others(who hurt us) for their mistakes, because we are all playing the same game, and we are all confused by the rules. Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday’s.🌲🌨🌨♥♥♥♥♥🎆🎁🎁🎆🎉🎉🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅
When we hear the phrase “mind over matter”, we think of it as a spiritual idea, a not a physical reality. This lecture ” the biology of belief” given by Dr Bruce Lipton, a cellular biologist and medical school professor, gives us hard physical science that proves it. The lecture and research put forward, proves how genes do not control biology, cells can live and behave with all genes and DNA removed. It is our perception of our environment and ourselves, that choose the behavioral proteins. Mind over matter is no just a catchphrase, but is a biological truth.
Terence Mckenna is a counter culture icon. Known for blend academic intelligence with psychedelic exploration and questioning cultural values. He has recorded hundreds of hours of lectures and is the father of making psychedelic plants part of the mainstream of today. I urge you to give these three clips a listen. It will change your life.
Going it Alone (short Listen)
This clip describes the universal human fear of being alone against nature and truth. Why we are afraid to face ourselves and the infantilism of our relationship to institutions.
Shamanic or Schizophrenic (Short Listen)
This clip describes how the eastern world and western world treat spiritual experience and mental illness differently. It talks also about how the western mind is built on assumptions that we are all afraid to question.
This clip is a longer clip. Recorded at the Esalen Institute it is a lecture with audience participation. Terence begins speaking at 9 mins, but the guy who intro’s the topic, and everything after, describes te last 15 years of my life. And gives you a view into your own weirdness or judgements about human Behaviour.
What does it mean to be crazy. (Long Listen)
This is the short read, Subscribe and like so you don’t miss the long read release.😇
I know it is Monday. In this weeks Manic Monday…But on Sunday(Reflecting on Self Reflection), I discuss the importants of examining ourselves, our intentions and why our mind is so hard wired to resist quieting down. Ram Dass was the saving grace in my own self reflection. I would not be the me of today if it were not for the 1000’s of hours I spent learn and listen to this man.
To accompany you on your Self Reflection journey, Ram Dass is an amazing source of wisdom, instruction and hope.
Ram Dass, was born Richard Alpert. He was a Harvard professor of Psychology. He, along with Timothy Leary and Ralph Metzger, were fired from Harvard university for using Psychedelics in research and Personal Exploration. This led Richard Alpert to travel to India, where he met his guru Neem Karoli Baba. He then came back to North America, where he has lectured for the last 50 years.
Below are three clips meaningful to me, but are an introduction for anyone, into the depths of our inner life.
Dark Night of the Soul – a short (8min) explaination of the part of the spiritual path known as the phony holy(thinking we are more enlightened than we are) and the pendulum swing to the phony unholy(trying to be less enlightened than we actually are. The valley where we have lost the world but aren’t tasting deeply enough of the spirit.
Purification and the evolution of consciousness part 1(30 min) is 1 of a 4 part lecture. Ram Dass discusses how the temporary rushes of the material world and ego, at first pull us in and make us happy. But slowly become empty rituals. This emptiness is what begins the search for meaning, truth, and a peace that isn’t fleeting.
This is a must listen for anyone interested in learning a deep mthod of self reflection.🤔🤔🤔💮💮💮😂
The clip below is very special to me. In last weeks Wisdom Wednesday we took a look at Terence McKenna. I found Ram Dass because of this conversation between Ram Dass and Terence McKenna. Terence helped my intellect and imagination. However it is Ram Dass who helped me work on my heart.
This conversation, about how to create social change through peaceful action, is a reminescing of the 60’s mixed with wisdom for the future, from to people who were at the centre of it.
In next weeks episode we will take a look at Rupert Sheldrake. Like, subscribe and listen. Each time you work on yourself, the collective Karma is lessed. Think about the power of that.😍😍😍😍😍😇😇😇😇🌍🌎🌏
